a Message from our Director

School Principals and School Governing Bodies have been our pillar of strength in 2021. We knocked on your door at the last second and you delivered. Your management at schools is key to the delivery of the needs of the Department.

Our School Staff and children have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Timetables had to adjusted to accommodate all learners. Syllabus completion and contact time had to be reduced. Our primary role is for our children to receive education of the highest level facing all adversity. We know our current situation is extremely demanding, and we appreciate the efforts staff at schools have made. The 4th Industrial Revolution has entered our schools without us being aware of it. One had to adapt to the technological changes during the pandemic.

Schools have built additional classes, some officially opened and others still in the process of completing building projects. The District looks forward to the additional classes alleviating the shortage of space. Admissions for our Grade 1 and 8 children are complete, with minor hindrances.

The National Senior Certificate examinations have been concluded successfully. We look forward to our children excelling and bringing honor to the District. The migration of Early Childhood Development from The Department of Social Development to The Department of Education has been initiated. The process is expected to be completed in April 2022.

Many of us have lost family members, loved ones and friends in 2021, we pray that The Almighty gives you comfort and strength during your time of lost. As the festive season begins, I personally wish you and your family a memorable festive season and a Happy 2022. Stay safe, travel safely, be Good and Love All our fellow beings. Spread the message of Love and Peace during this Festive Season and follow COVID protocols in our daily lives. God Bless!

Kind Regards

ES Chabalala

District Director
